Views, Villages & Other Natural Attractions
Take a drive to Kangaroo Valley or Berrima. Or head out to the historic mining town of Joadja or to the Wombeyan Caves.
The Illawarra Fly and Treetop Walk at Robertson provides spectacular views over the Illawarra escarpment and 180 degree views of the coastline. The Fly is definitely worth a visit! It is common for mist to roll in from the ocean on a summer afternoon, so go early to enjoy the vistas.
The waterfalls are also worth a visit: Fitzroy Falls, Carrington Falls and Belmore Falls are some of the wellknown ones.
Gardens
The Southern Highlands is renowned for its spectacular gardens and is a garden-lovers’ paradise.
Come at the end of September for the popular Tulip Time and see the glorious displays of tulips around the Highlands. In Mittagong, the Winifred West Park is just a short stroll from the township.
There are numerous magnificent gardens across the Highlands that are open in the spring and at other times of the year. Two wellknown gardens in the Mittagong area are ‘Chinoiserie’ and ‘Greenbrier Park’.
